Abstract

The central idea of this article, based on a discussion of the different gender perspectives, is to show the effects of women's increasing participation in the U.S. labor market on the perceptions and attitudes of both women immigrants and their partners or men in general. It is based on more than 100 interviews in different states, although only three are presented to illustrate the points made. In brief, this article aims to show whether women's migrating to the United States causes changes in relations between the genders and if their participation in this process, particularly by working in the United States, has given rise to more egalitarian relations between men and women.
