Abstract
Con base en casi cien entrevistas de campo, en este trabajo discutimos cuáles son las causas y los detonadores de la violencia ejercida por varones hacia mujeres trabajadoras de la maquila en Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua. La hipótesis es que los varones recurren a la violencia para recordar a las mujeres cuál es su papel en la sociedad. La perspectiva de género y el supuesto ambiente "sexuado" de las mujeres que trabajan en las maquiladoras servirán para ofrecer una de las varias explicaciones de la violencia. Por ejemplo, años atrás Marvin Harris explicó que una de las razones por la que los varones se negaban a que sus esposas trabajaran era porque al ingresar al mercado de trabajo ellos perdían todos o parte de sus privilegios (como el aseo del hogar; o que alguien les prepare su ropa o los alimentos).Authors who publish with this journal agree to the following terms:
