How to Cite
Abstract
Following the very disappointing actions on environmental issues, and in particular on climate change, when both issues not only were abandoned but also regressed, the Joe Biden administration has an opportunity to recover what was lost and move forward substantially on both areas.The issue of climate change has an international and a national aspect. The first is related to the degree of commitment of the US with the world and with multilateralism, while the second basically relates to the promotion of the economic sectors of the fossil energy industry versus the sectors in favor of renewable energy. The Biden plan is based on the idea that the recovery of the economy and competitiveness, as well as employment and even social justice, are interconnected and can only be achieved within the framework of a broad economic and green investment project. This article evaluates the political conditions that the new government will have in order to achieve its green plan and it also analyzes what will be its greatest obstacles and possibilities.
