Abstract
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has marked a change in attitude about migration that is radi-cally opposed to that of his predecessor, Stephen Harper. Trudeau’s policy is more open to re-ceiving immigrants and is a pillar of the political agenda. As a result, the immigration system has been improving in order to admit more immigrants, temporary workers, and students. He has established the measures needed to reduce processing times, as well as to improve family reunification, among several other initiatives. Mexicans have played a predominant role as sea-sonal agricultural workers and, in absolute terms, have increased their numbers as immigrants, temporary workers and students in recent years. The author describes the effects Trudeau’s immigration policy has had on this sector of the population.
