Abstract
In recent years, nearshoring in Mexico has sparked highly optimistic discourse; however, the aggressive protectionism embedded in the policies enacted at the outset of Donald Trump's second presidency has introduced substantial uncertainty regarding Mexico's prospective role in this domain. This study provides a conceptual framework delineating the unique attributes of nearshoring within the Mexican context, thereby substantiating the view that, even under these altered conditions, Mexico retains considerable appeal for such investments. The analysis also underscores the imperative for public policies designed to enhance the nation's capacity to leverage these opportunities effectively, thereby fostering progressive national development. Achieving this entails advancing structural economic transformation strategies outlined in the ongoing Plan Mexico, which must navigate a multifaceted environment replete with formidable challenges.
