Abstract
This article examines the distinctive features of the use of economic instruments and the involvement of the private sector in the geopolitical sphere, either as components of or articulated with the foreign policy of the United States from 2015 to 2023. Drawing on the theoretical framework of Geo-economics, this period highlights several key developments: the role of geo-economics in the contest for global hegemony, with a particular focus on Latin America; the evolution in the application of economic sanctions; and the emphasis on the institutionalization of private sector participation in U.S. foreign policy.
