Resumen

Desde una perspectiva histórica de larga duración, este artículo explora la historia de órdenes políticos cambiantes y rebeliones de extrema derecha en los Estados Unidos para analizar su impacto en las relaciones México-Estados Unidos. Las rebeliones de extrema derecha son fenómenos políticos complejos arraigados en tres tradiciones y movimientos políticos estadounidenses: el populismo, el “iliberalismo” y el aislacionismo. Los tres han moldeado periódicamente el panorama político de Estados Unidos, especialmente en momentos de transición como la crisis actual que enfrentan el Consenso de Washington y el orden internacional liberal. En el pasado, las relaciones entre Estados Unidos y México han logrado mantenerse al margen de las convulsiones generadas por estas transiciones políticas y rebeliones de extrema derecha. Pero la situación cambió. El auge del trumpismo que ha establecido el marco fundamental para una nueva etapa de tensiones en la relación bilateral, en un contexto de creciente inestabilidad geopolítica a nivel mundial.
