Resumen

Desde 2017, EE.UU. está experimentando un auge de la extrema derecha. La narrativa dominante para explicar la indignación social y el revanchismo político que catalizan la radicalización de las comunidades blancas es el detrimento económico. Este estudio contrasta la relación actual entre pauperización y radicalización en el Rust Belt. A través de la correlación entre la variación de los grupos de odio con un índice multidimensional de pauperización se encontró una relación positiva entre ambas variables. Es decir, definitivamente el detrimento económico genera un incremento en las organizaciones de extrema derecha. Sin embargo, no es el único conjunto de variables explicativas, pues se registraron otros dos ápices relacionados con coyunturas políticas específicas.
