Abstract

After the end of the war between Mexico and the United States (1846-1848), the establishment of the new border sparked population movements and intense reciprocal action among inhabitants on both sides of the Rio Grande. This happened concurrently with the intensification of Apache and Comanche incursions into the populated areas of northern Mexico, seriously affecting the lives of people along the border and impacting not only the border regions on both sides of the river, but the binational relationship itself.
